All is One and One is All...
Listening to their lastest album, nicely called Beats of Olarizu (2011), you can easily spot so many different influences. I’ve been listening to it for a while now, and I’m always going back to them at some point ! I heard some Stoned Jesus influence in their songs’ structures and even some Ian Anderson in the vocals, what a stunning vocalist ! Man, every song is a completely different trip from one another ! The voice of the lead singer will still tie everything together to come up with a amazing album !
In the song “Fall of the Crosses” you can easily recognize that Clutch vibe, making your butt move heavily from left to right ! It’s so groovy, the classical Clutch’s cowbell is almost missing at some point 😉 Rapidly followed by a mystical song called “Eclipse“, one of the best of the album for my part. Here you’ll also hear some classical Stefan Koglek’s (Colour Haze) guitar moves who built the most iconic Stoner atmospheres for years now, up to a certain point that it became a vocabulary itself in that genre ! “Eclipse” is for me a beautiful tribute to that marvelous Colour Haze song “Remains” that you all should know by heart!
As you can see, Arenna came up with a very very polyvalent and powerful piece of music. Lots of different styles are played here, with great class and a great sense of musicality ! They are for sure not part of those bands like AC/DC nor Motörhead who will play the same kind of things all along their careers (no offense, love them) ! Arenna is a sublime ode to what’s best in what we call nowadays “Stoner Music”. Groove, feelings and heaviness !
Have a good and safe Trip !
