Hi there people of More Fuzz, still very honored that our community is everyday getting bigger and bigger, and very honored that you appreciate the music we gathered for you!
I want to apologize to the people seeking for peace and harmony, today it is meat on the menu !

I’m writing those lines while I’m impatiently waiting to attempt a Monolord gig tonight so my mind is looking for heavy stuff to swallow ! And I found this band ! They chose a badass name that describes perfectly where your mind will be after listening to their songs : BRAINOIL !

Sorry for the lack of softness here, I promise I’ll come up with something nice & gentle next time. The previous sentence sounds like it came from a porno movie, and you’re not far from there ! This band right here is everything but sexy, except maybe their massive beards that you girls will love ..!

BRAINOIL is all about riffs, with balls please. It’s fast, dirty and pushy ! It reminds me instrumentally speaking of the early Mötorhead stuff. Each songs is leaded by one or several f@#&ing riffs, it’s like a riff machine ! Rhythmic section is also strong there ! Sharp and clear right into your face ! As sharp as our good old Karma To Burn but with moremoremorefuzz ! Some like called it doom, some sludge or even crust but you’ll decide I don’t want to take any decisions to put a name on this 😉

With two great albums this Okland-based trio managed to give you the power & heaviness of doom with the energy&sweat of punk-rock ! They keeped the punk-rock recipe : short songs for more energy, but they added a line to it : short songs for more energy and diversity ! While listening to an entire album, BRAINOIL will carry you through different atmospheres, themes and spaces. Looks like they’re into diversity, which is a great things for their creativity and also for you ! By keeping their touch, their heaviness they offer you a large range of moods… Fans of Weedeater you’ll be pleased by their powerful vocals!

BRAINOIL got everything to be liked! Man, in one same song you’ll be head banging like an horde of starved zombies and jumping & running like a guy who just missed his bus in front of him ! Despite the fact that the guitar is, most of the time overdubbed (for more weight!) we can still clearly hear that the bass player is having fun ! I’ve always liked watching a great bass player live, it’s always very discrete but all the time so good and groovy. The bass player knows when to follow the main riff and where he can play around a theme to put colors or in this case shades of grey into their songs (remember it’s dark&heavy shit) ! I’ve always liked trios, nobody is stepping on each other feet, everybody can really play together, and those guys really know how to do it! Like Sabbath before, they smartly use down or up-tempos which allow them to break songs, and radically change the feeling of it!

For my part, I’m more into their self-titled album, there’s more “space” in it, more “air”, you can feel the crush falling down your weak little shoulders, nothing here to resist the weight of their badass songs! It is evilly cursed like an Electric Wizard’s song, it is catchy like a great riffs from Down or Mötorhead, as the second you hear it, your mind turns on the beast mode and nothing can stop you ! Their albums are just ripping, it is a great band that deserves more recognition. They managed to be doom, evil, heavy and strong without sounding muddy, the sound is clear as water as it breaks your brain!

So if you’re feeling lazy, it is maybe a bed day for you, as Mr. Kilmister said “shake your blood !“, Press the damn play button or put any BRAINOIL’s song, and your day which was so far a Sunday type of day, will soon become a crushing one, starting with a badass headband wearing your pyjamas ! Now let’s go eat some bacon for breakfast, yumyum !
