How is the sound ?
French Heavy Psych Rockers Bright Curse are back with a 2-tracks EP entitled “Shaman“. I’ve been impatiently waiting for newer stuff by these dudes, indeed their first LP was and is still very addictive, melting perfectly psychedelia and catchy heavy riffs. They also have a new bassist, so I wanted know what kind of vibe he was going to bring to the already killer atmosphere Bright Curse delivers…
So let’s be clear right now, those 2 tracks can only foresee a “bright” future for Bright Curse 😉 To begin with here is a mouth-watering info about this release : Tony Reed, the fabulous musician behind Mos Generator, mastered it !
Then talking about the music itself, the guys continue to transport us into their world full of sick heavy riffs, sweet melodic & trippy jam parts, blistering solos, and very good vocals from Romain. Zacharie, behind the drums, didn’t loose his shape neither.
But Max the new bassist is really shinning in those 2 tracks. He has that thick sound I enjoy so much, the mix is very well done, I love when the bass is so present like that ! But a cool sound doesn’t necessarily means a good playing isn’t it ? Well in that case, the sound AND the playing is HUGE ! The bass lines are incredibly groovy with subtle changes from the guitar does, congrats dude 😉
Why is this band worth listening ?
- Powerful Fuzzy riffs !
- Thunderous Groove !
- Awesome Vocals !
- A mix between Lowrider’s catchy heaviness & Colour Haze’s sweet psychedelic taste…
In what situation you should listen to this band ?
Like the cover and the EP title suggest, put yourself into a Shaman-mode and blow up a big pipe of weed 🙂
Something particular to note ?
Of course don’t miss their first LP if you haven’t listened to it yet !
