Smashing Stoner-Doom Duo !

Let’s continue this crazy Australian week with a duo hailing from Melbourne, and what a duo ! We don’t often see duo in that scene, maybe more in the Heavy-Blues end, but those 2 guys are not like that. They just released the heaviest doomish 3 tracks EP I ever heard coming from a duo ! And if I understood well the lyrics are also based on The Simpsons, well… why not..! DOH !

The first track “Mono” begins with a slow crushing riff that directly sets a gloomy atmosphere to the song. Then Dr. Jon comes in with a floating clean voice while Dr. Johnston beats ferociously his drums. A blazing riff comes a bit later in the song only to reveal what feels like a huge smash on your poor little head !

“Because of The War” sounds more Stoner but still very heavy, not hesitating on the fuzz level ! The closing track “Son of A Pig” goes back to the doom territory and starts by switching between a nagging melody and the vocals. It then escalates to a faster riff accompanied by a voice canon, Yes, I do like Stuff Doh ! The track ends with a pounding riff while the nagging melody kicks in again, all of this played slower and slower until the end…

Yes this is a very effective first EP, I’m sure every one of you will enjoy head-banging on it ! Let’s see if those guys will continue their effort and produce some more heavy stuff !
