Eclectic Heavy Rock Druids !
How is the sound ?
Here is a very interesting one ! These guys named “Druid” have quite a large range of fuzzy sound signatures… By that I mean it’s very blurry in my head to attach a genre to them : Stoner, Doom, Trippy stuff, even Blues, they have it all !
Well the whole production in itself sounds more Retro than classic modern Stoner stuff, but it’s impressive how they manage to borrow the spirit of big bands like Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, or even Black Sabbath by completely “stealing” the War Pigs riff in “Luke’s Wall” 😉
But don’t get me wrong, they really crafted something quite unique as a whole ! The fuzz can be very present and nasty on some songs like “Rid This From My Eyes“, but they can also play some awesome sweet psychedelic songs like “Whale“, and also be on the gloomy/doomy side of psychedelia with the great “Mount Sinjar / Evil Sands” that closes this very eclectic album. Hell you can even imagine yourself hearing Clapton in the track “No Good Man” !
So yeah it’s worth a try guys, dive in !
