Sweet Complex Heaviness
How is the sound ?
Another killer band coming from Italy, let me introduce you Fakir Thongs ! They just released their 2nd Full-Length, 10 tracks of melodic Stoner Rock with some hints of psychedelia, it’s beautifully crafted.
You will find a lot of similarities with Truckfighters, particularly in “Universe” their 2014 release. First is the voice, very smooth, delicate and melodious, it fits perfectly with the sweet heaviness of the riffs. Talking about the riffs, they are, like I said, very melodious and syncopated, like the Swedish guys.
Stoner Rock gods, Kyuss, will also pop in your head while hearing Fakir Thongs : complicated heavy riffs, a very present bass, and an overall psychedelic groove on some songs, it’s very innovative and very pleasant to hear !
Why is this album worth listening ?
- For the effort these guys put into the song writing. Everything is at its place and when needed, congrats !
- I repeat myself, but the vocals is very important in the majority of the bands, here it’s wonderfully fulfilling its role.
- In fact Fakir Thongs are at the limits of Post-Rock and Math-Rock, that’s why I hear some And So I Watch You From Afar in there…
In what situation you should listen to this album ?
While slowly enjoying a lollipop coated with honey, which would contain a sour bubblegum with a cactus taste.
