Blown by the Giant Howl !
How is the sound ?
Howling Giant is a new band in town coming from Nashville, Tennessee. They just released this 4-tracks EP on Bandcamp, a brilliant production, and I bet you fuzzers will also be blown by the Giant Howl !
Thunderous heavy riffs with some Sleepesque guitar sounds (particularly “Camel Crusher”), it also reminds me a lot Burn The Sun, that I already reviewed.
Steve Rodger who is a frequent buyer on Bandcamp also pointed out Freedom Hawk similarities, and I must agree with him !
Why is this album worth listening ?
- “Whale Lord” and “Camel Crusher” are two epic songs that will blow your mind !
- The more melodic and airy parts like will certainly remind you that Elder style (like in the end of “Whale Lord”).
- Talking about melodic parts, the guitar solos are fuckin’ genious ! Sometimes using the wah pedal, sometimes using a soft delay, it’s just pure gold !
- The bass also does a wonderful job, its thick fuzzy sound is huge and some parts sound a bit like Ozo from Truckfigters.
In what situation you should listen to this album ?
Of course while trying to escape that Giant you sadly woke up while he was hibernating !
Something particular to note ?
Notice the piano in the songs ? Well maybe not at the first listen, but I think it’s definitely adding a superb layer to the overall sound 😉
