Wanna Try Heavy Music Meditation ?
Amsterdam ? Hmmm I should have guessed Mantra Machine is coming from the city of Weed haha 🙂 Indeed, the “Purple Haze Level” is pretty high with this record released at the end of November. Playing in the same field as My Sleeping Karma or Monkey3, this is a stunning Heavy Psychedelic album !
So you tired of the everyday life ? Well then take some time to chill and rest your mind by listening to Mantra Machine. You know I’m a lot into “self-development” stuff, and meditation is one of those topic that is often talked about when you want to have an happier, more fulfilled life. I know meditation can sound weird or just too spiritual for you, but in fact it’s very easy and it’s just about one thing : being present.
By “being present” I mean not thinking about the work you didn’t finished today, or thinking about what gift you’ll buy to your lovely mum for Christmas. Just thinking about that moment, right now, and feeling how is your body, how is your mind in that exact moment. And you’ll tell me : “But I can’t just close my eyes and don’t think ! I have thoughts popping out everywhere !“. Well I know, I’m like you, and everybody is like that, but you can learn to fight the noise.
Actually, music is maybe the best way for me to fight that noise of unwanted thoughts when I want to meditate. Music like the one of Mantra Machine sweeten my mind, it is so easy to get lost into it, to be present. Try you’ll see ! Just go into a place where you won’t be disturbed, sit down comfortably, take some deep breathes, press play, and gently close your eyes.
You’ll now enter into a meditation mode. The only thing you have to do is concentrate on the music. If you feel like your mind wanders to some noisy thoughts, don’t try to reject them, just be aware of it, and gently bring back the attention to the music. What I find efficient is to concentrate on a particular instrument for a moment, then switch to another. Of course the guitar is the easier, just listen to those magical fuzzy solos, those enchanting chords progression… Then try to isolate the bass. You’ll see that Tjø has some killer groovy bass lines, you’ll enjoy even more in that “peace-of-mind” mode. Of couse, the delicate spacey keyboard gives an entire new level to the sound, reminding you a lot of Monkey3 jams. It greatly helps your mind to focus on the sound, and at the same time let it go wherever he wants like that astronaut on the cover !
Just forget everything you have on your mind, and please try one of those “Heavy Music Meditation” session, it can be only one song or a whole album if have time to do so ! I’m not forcing you, but I can guarantee you, you won’t see the time passing, you’ll feel lighter, like if something was gone from your body. Once finished you’ll feel a very enjoyable sensation of inner peace, you just felt what it is to “be present”.
Please tell me in the comments how you felt, was it good ? And don’t forget all of this is thanks to Mantra Machine’s brilliant music !
