Like an Angel Right in the Middle of Hell...
How is the sound ?
Hey Fuzzers ! You may have already heard of this female-fronted band from Atlanta, Georgia in 2012 with their well-acclaimed first LP “CVI“, let me introduce you Royal Thunder and their fantastic brand new full-length : Crooked Doors !
Rest assured, the quartet did an even more awesome work than their first opus..! Taking their own dark but beautiful atmosphere way deeper, the whole album is a long journey of 11 tracks, melting epic Heavy Rock with sweet, psychedelic & sometimes complex melodies… You should really listen to it in one go to fully appreciate this fascinating experience !
Comparing to CVI, the production of Crooked Doors is so much more in their favor, completely in accord with their atmosphere. Yeah, each instrument has a precise sound, especially the guitars, which have that sleek tone, even more during the solos and clean parts, it’s gorgeous !
Of course the centerpiece of Royal Thunder is Mlny Parsonz fabulous voice ! She’s leading masterfully the whole band in a very bewitching manner… From sweet & distant siren chants to powerful & high-pitched roars, this woman will hook you up for the entire album. How awesome is that to master so harmoniously her own natural instrument ?!
And how can you end a record better than with the last 2 songs ? Yeah, The Bear I & II are just 2 beautiful acoustic songs with a guitar, a double bass, a cello, a sad piano, and of course Mlny touching vocals that are full of emotions…

In what situation you should listen to this album ?
As you understood, Royal Tunder’s Crooked Doors isn’t the type of fuzzed out album with thick riffs you listen to for a hard headbanging session. Nop. It’s just a mindblowing experience you have to live in its entirety. Let yourself be transported by their unique atmosphere… and press play one more time!
