Emotion & Fuzz...
Stubb is a special band for me, it’s one of the first band I heard when I discovered the Heavy Rock Scene. And with 1000mods and Sasquatch, their self-titled LP was certainlyone of my most played album at that time 🙂 I also saw them in London for my first Stoner concert with Sungrazer and the Machine ! So you now understand that I have a special affection for Stubb…
I wanted to talk about them today because they released earlier this month their 2nd full-length, “Cry Of The Ocean” with Ripple Music. And if you haven’t listened to it yet,you really missed something, fortunately I’m here to help you discover it 😉
I was very impatient to hear it, and I can tell you they didn’t disappoint me ! This album is a very pleasant following to Stubb’s first release. Taking a step from the aggressiveness of their first effort, they moved to an even bluesier, heavy emotional sound, but don’t worry, the fuzz isn’t gone at all ! We can clearly see the songwriting process for each track, and thus for the whole album, has been taken to another level…
But I think what makes me love Stubb the most is Jack Dickinson guitar style. And with “Cry of The Ocean” I really feel he evolved in his own style, making it even more enjoyable, showing through the entire atmosphere of that new record ! He knows when he has to play thick riffs and when things needs to calm down and be more melodious, but always with that soul-stirring touch. And of course you can only fell in love with his magical bluesy solos, each note, each lick is top-notch, I wish I could play like that !!
Emotion & Fuzz, Bravo Stubb !
