French Psychedelic Rock Quintet unveil the third single from their upcoming Debut
Empty Full Space is a Parisian band, formed around a year and a half ago, and already making some waves and drawing attention in the scene. They’ve been refining their own blend of Psych on and off the stage, working towards their Debut LP ‘From The Limbo’, to be released on the brilliant Spanish Label Spinda Records on March 20th. They’ve already released two singles, the spacey ‘Amnesia’ in January, and the opener and title-track a month ago, both showing two sides of this new trippy jewel, ‘Morphogene’, that we present you here today displays yet another layer of what the frenchies can do.
The french Quintet melts down together various influences in just the right proportions, shaking it up to get a catchy, groovy, spacey, hypnotic mix. One of the obvious would be the US veterans Brian Jonestown Massacre for the overall psychedelic atmosphere and vocals, you’ll for sure think of King Gizzard/Osees for the energetic surfy garage vibes, and they mention the old-school classics Hawkwind or Can, transpiring the ever-present spacey enveloppe. The album goes down super smoothly, taking you on a trip through Empty Full Space‘s galaxy, each song venturing into its own world, offering an extensive tour of the band’s universe, cohesively held together, resulting in this amazing trippy Debut album, well done guys!
‘Morphogene’ is the one of the two instrumental tracks of this album (along with the closer ‘2C’), this new single grabs you right from the start, and drags you to an ethereal dancefloor, keeping you hooked for the next five minutes. They’ll give you here and there a few moments to take a breath and let your mind wander off, before pulling you right back in, and taking it up a notch. This track leans more towards the King Gizzard/Osees side of their influences overall, but still makes room for other vibes, proving the band thought out meticulously every step of the way, never letting themselves become to comfortable, and always trying to bring freshness into their mix. Expect a strong eastern atmosphere, Surf-Rock energy, hypnotic rhythm section, along with this spacey enveloppe that kind of binds the whole album together.
