You better drive as fast as you can,
because the Grim Reaper is on your back !
Bison Machine (Facebook – Bandcamp) is a band I’ve been following since their self-titled first EP in 2013 (reviewed here). I really enjoyed this release which was really strong on the overall heaviness of the tunes.
Then the Michigan guys released their first debut album, “Hoarfrost” last year, which I also played many times ! But this time the heaviness was less predominant, and to me they pushed stronger the blusier side and the Temperature Level, which I approve entirely, this record is badass !
In 2016, they released a killer split with 2 other bands from the Detroit scene Wild Savages & Slo (reviewed by Mr. Groove here). With 2 tracks in that split, Bison Machine stepped up their game once again, delivering some delicious fuzzy ass-shaking tunes, going even more into a retro 70’s sound but still sounding fresh.
Now More Fuzz is proud to present you a brand new tune from Bison Machine, “Cloak & Bones“. The guys told me this tune will be included in their next album which is being recorded right now. It also features a new member, Casey O’Ryan on guitar (remember, he was featured in our first Crank The Fuzz Series article).
And what I can tell you is they didn’t loose their punch ! This band kickass man ! Following even more their venture into 70’s Heavy/Blues Rock, “Cloak & Bones” is a track with a killer groove. Tom is still singing wonderfully with his Ozzy-like voice, Breck at the drums and Anthony on bass are precisely exploding the Temperature Level, giving the newcomer Casey all the energy needed to shine with his catchy fuzzy & bluesy licks
As a point of comparison, I think Bison Machine could really be as big as Greenleaf, they may not be a Swedish supergroup, but they clearly play at the same level… Now I’m impatiently waiting for the new album

Some words from the band about the single, and some shows happening in the Michigan :
We are stoked to announce the release of our brand new single, ‘Cloak & Bones’, featuring our newest member, Casey O’Ryan, on guitar. Hot off our latest three-way-split cassette, “Sweet Leaves Volume 1”, we wanted to give a preview of things to come. A new album as well as brand new merch and plenty of touring can be expected to follow in the coming months. We have a few loud shows coming up for our Michigan fans, April 29th at Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo with Old Black and BoneHawk (Ripple Music), and April 30th at Small’s Bar in Detroit with Nuke and the legendary Beast in the Field (this will be BITF’s last show in Detroit, ever, so if you’re close enough to make the drive then we highly suggest you do it).
