ex-Hermano Delivers The Perfect Stoner Rock Album of 2015
How is the sound ?
Ooooh yeah we have a winner here ! Luna Sol’s first full-length just released at the end of April is certainly one of my most played album during those last weeks 🙂 Fronted by David Angstrom also known as the guitarist of the famous Stoner Rock act Hermano, “Blood Moon” feels like a refreshing release on the Stoner Rock scene where each song is way more than “a simple riff”, but at the same time so catchy to resonate with every lovers of the desert sound.
I won’t tell you the Kyuss, and even more, the QOTSA influence is not here, because that wouldn’t be true. There is definitely that “Robot-Rock” atmosphere melted with the heaviness of the Stoner Rock Gods from Palm Desert. But Angstrom and his mates really managed to make “it” their own, to appropriate themselves all these dusty vibes, and out of magic make something totally awesome !
So many good hooks in this album I’ll let you enjoy it for yourself 😉
Why is this album worth listening ?
- One of the best Stoner Rock release of 2015 for now
- The “Fuzzy Sound” we’re all waiting for !
- Catchy as hell guitar solos, this dude rocks !
- Great vocals in a Lanegan-style from Angstrom, sometimes backed by a female one, adding another killer layer to the sound !
In what situation you should listen to this album ?
Bored of listening to the same old (but good) albums of Stoner Rock in your large collection of vinyls ? Try Luna Sol, you won’t be disappointed.
Something particular to note ?
If you’re in the US you can already get “Blood Moon” on vinyl, Europe you’ll have to wait till August, but you can still pre-order 😉 Links to Stores are here !
