Grab your ceremony cape, the ritual is about to begin...
Just arriving from nowhere, Deathbell sets the bar very high with their first album. We didn’t see that coming, and it was an excellent surprise. Blasting an immersive doom, they take you in another world during 6 beautiful tracks. Combining some riffage parts with some very contemplative measures, they keep the same heaviness and power. Based on the mesmerizing riffs, their music goes further and put a loud atmosphere, thanks to bass, drums, and keys. And what can we add to that perfect combo? Some incantations from Lauren, vocalist of the band. Prepare your ceremony cape, tonight, we meet the devil.
How is the sound ?
Adding their own touch to a style we already know, Deathbell created a very solid universe. ‘With The Beyond‘, the first track, sets the band’s basics: an occult and hazy atmosphere, slow riffs and a strong rhythm section. The keys add a very mystic touch to the whole. ‘Emerald Eyes Shire‘ allows us to meet the woman who gonna runs the ritual. Starting with a hypnotizing melody, the powerful voice of Lauren act like a charm. The solo parts are just wonderful, adding a little cosmic touch.
‘Come to Trouble‘ and ‘Over the Rim‘ both are some real doom masterpieces. Setting up slowly an impressive atmosphere, Deathbell offers a refreshing experience, full of emotions and astonishing riffs. Always slow and loud, the beat hits hard, the only breath we can take is during the beautiful keys and vocal parts.
If you are not bewitched with ‘They Still Wander‘, I can’t do anything for you. This song works perfectly well, we can feel the occult vibe as Lauren tell her spells. The riffs are strong and heavy and the drum part is well orchestrated. ‘Rise From Your Grave‘ close beautifully this album. The guitar part is astonishing and the rhythm section offers a strong support, adding a heavy and loud atmosphere. Mixed that with some deep vocals, and you have a profound song to put an end to this album.
Why is this album worth listening?
- A heavy and mystic atmosphere which will drive you into different states of minds
- A bunch of well-written riffs, powerful and intense
- Lauren’s voice adds a really deep touch to the whole
In what situation you should listen to this album ?
Comfortably sit, with a good glass of whiskey.
