This is the Story of a Jazzman & a Stonerhead…
For a few years now Sweden is THE place to keep an eye on if you are into Stoner Rock. It is hard to know how they manage to put out so many amazing bands but, well, they do.
Today, I would like to talk about one of those talented bands: Montgolfière.
How is the sound ?
Those guys are an instrumental power trio who play Psychedelic Stoner Rock with a strong Jazz influence. Those of you who like the Spanish band Prisma Circus are in for a treat because you will find the same sweet sense of madness in Montgolfière’s sound. But there is so much more than that !
Indeed, that jazzy vibe brings a refreshing sound to a genre that is becoming quite overcrowded lately. It is really good to hear something a little bit different. Their songs are quite short – around five minutes each – but they manage to create very different atmospheres as the tempo changes and if sometimes those changes might be a little abrupt it always sounds interesting.
Why is this album worth listening ?
- Because it is different.
- Because these are the two first songs from a really cool new band on which you should keep an eye.
In what situation you should listen to this album ?
Just relax and put your headphones on !
Something particular to note ?
The best is yet to come because this is only a small part of their very first album which is due late summer 2015. The wait will be long but it will certainly be worth it.
