At least I can repeat this last second!
It’s been a slow year so far for me with very few albums really catching my interest and stay in rotation. But luckily, here comes the instrumental rock trio Their Methlab from Athens, Greece to save the day.
The Last Second is their debut album following an EP released in 2013 and you can hear all the time and effort that’s been put into these 5 instrumental tracks full off atmosphere, treading a fine line between melody and heaviness.
Turn the volume up and enjoy!
How is the sound ?
Let’s say you’re driving through a valley and up a mountain during sunrise, with plenty of be great views on the way to your final destination, and finally the highest peak with a view over the amazing landscape!
That’s the musical roads Their Methlab are taking when building up to wall of sounds with their psychedelic rock meets post-rock sound.
Every song smoothly moves in and out of crescendos where they never stay too long for its own good.
Although I wouldn’t mind for those intense moments to hold on longer, because they are that awesome!
And when bass man Dimitris and drummer Nikos keep the paces steady, guitarist Michalis is free to shine with amazing riffs and melodies that grab you until the very last second.
Hats of to Their Methlab for an excellent debut album and hope the next one doesn’t take another 6 years! 🙂
Why is this album worth listening to?
- It grabs you from start to finish and just short of 40 minutes you just wanna play it again!
- When they fire on all cylinders you can’t help to move your body!
- It’s one of the most exciting albums so far this year! Nuff’ said! 😉
In what situation you should listen to this album?
