My Favorite Greek Album since 1000mods' "Super Van Vacation" !
Another gem from Greece, when will these guys stop ?! I hope they won’t.
Indeed, each time I see a greek band releasing something, my brain goes wild and I know 80% of the time it’ll be some fuckin’ good music ! And as you can imagine this is the case with Godsleep. Coming from the capital, they crafted a killer Stoner Rock album with so much fuzz and heavy riffs !
How is the sound ?
To me, a lot of the latest Greek releases didn’t really reinvent the genre, but that’s not what I’m waiting for with them. I just know that when I’ll press play, I’ll be submerged by a ton of catchy stoned riffs ! And be sure Godsleep just got me drowned in them. I mean it’s not even possible for me to try to reach the surface to catch a breath, the more I listen to “Thousand Sons Of Sleep“, the deeper I am in this flood of fuzz… 🙂
No really, let’s stop the cheesy metaphors, Godsleep just put out an outstanding album. The production is enormous, like a good ol’ 1000mods’ “Super Van Vacation” and sometimes even heavier ! Also note those great throaty vocals which fit perfectly with that huge wall of sound.
And indeed, like this review’s title says, Godsleep’s “Thousand Sons Of Sleep” comes right after 1000mods’s “Super Van Vacation” in my favorite Greek albums, it’s how good it is.
Why is this album worth listening ?
- They are Greek, yup.
- So heavy, so catchy, so fuzzy !
- 2 last songs are more “smokey”, a good moment to light one up 😉
- The riff at 3:05 in “Thirteen”, and the one at 3:35 in “Wrong Turn” \m/
In what situation you should listen to this album ?
Feeling masochistic and want to be smashed by a good dose of heaviness ? Try Godsleep.
