Kaleidobolt Strikes Hard and Fast !
Hello again Fuzzers! Jammin’ James here. The term “Stoner Rock” is a lot like the term “Grunge.” It has no real meaning as to what the music is going to sound like, it more encompasses an attitude and a style of the musicians playing. That being said, Kaleidobolt’s eponymous record is the definition of a Stoner Rock record.
How is the sound ?
This album is reminiscent of the old days of Psychedelic Rock and Roll. Drawing from the masters of Rock and Roll past, these guys remind you of why you purchase vinyl and listen to it through headphones.
This is pure fuzzy goodness. These guys can shred with the best of them, as showcased on the very jazzy, yet very heavy track “Liskodisko”. They can also drop you back into a psychedelic groove with tracks like “Showdown”.
Throughout the whole album you are being driven by very groovy bass lines, all the while being treated to off the wall drumming, and shredding fast guitar. They bring it all back together with solid riffs that epitomize what Stoner Rock really is.
Why is this album worth listening ?
- It’s super groovy, trippy as hell, with many explosions of pure heavy goodness.
- If you’re a fan of the old psych sounds from the 60’s and 70’s, this is an album you will immensely enjoy.
- These guys are just straight up good musicians. The transfers and flow of the songs are nothing short of pure brilliance.
In what situation you should listen to this album ?
If you’re like me and like spending time with your friends smoking the bong and listening to tunes, then this is the album for you.
This isn’t something you would toss on at a party, unless maybe it’s an LSD party. It’s seems to be strictly designed for getting nicely toasted and tossing your headphones on.
Something particular to note ?
This album sells on their Bandcamp page for 6.66 Euros. In Canadian currency, which is what I’m paying, that works out to $9.28. However, 6.66 Euros is the perfect price for this record, because… smoke weed and hail Satan, that’s why.
If you are more a physical guy, their LP will be out on Pink Tank Records on the 14th of August and preorders start on the 15th of July 🙂
