7th Full-Length for the Swedish Modern Heavy-Blues Trio

I just heard about a new Kamchatka album about a month ago, and knowing how I appreciate this band I can tell you I was pretty hyped! 4 years after the previous one (reviewed here by Mr. Jammin James), the Swedish trio is back with “Hoodoo Lightning“, a bomb of blues-infused Heavy Rock that the guys are known for. Released today on digital platforms and available on wax & cd here.

How is the sound ?

Hoodoo Lightning is already the 7th full-length album in Kamchatka 15 years carrier, and each time they release a new album it’s a big hit for me. And it’s especially the case with this one.

Thomas, Tobias and Per are back in full force with 10 banger tracks, indeed not a single “slow” song, whereas we were usually used to at least one in their other releases. They’re really pushing the “Temperature Level” during the whole album, and I approve totally this choice! Also to note some new double lead vocals by Thomas & Per, which gives an even fuller and interesting experience.

Apart from that, you’ll still find the same Kamchatka trademark sound : a modern approach to a classic 70’s feeling. I’m talking about excellent and catchy songwriting, composed of ravaging heavy-bluesy riffs, strong groovy bass lines which are not buried in the mix, punchy and dynamic drums, superb clean heartfelt vocals, and ooowwww god those killer guitar solos 😍

Why is this album worth listening to?

7th album for the Swedish power-trio. 7th kick in the face for all the heavy-blues genre fans!

In what situation you should listen to this album?

A band I personally love listening at home at maximum volume, but which takes it to an even higher level when experienced live ! And guess what ? They’re on tour in Europe with Clutch and Graveyard right now! They start alone tonight in Borlänge, Sweden to celebrate the release of Hoodoo Lightning 🔥
