Heavy Fuzz & Bluesy Touch to Your Ears !
Heya fuzzers, Mr.Fuzz here again to present you another marvelous band from Austria. The Heavy Minds were an instant love, I immediately push the buy button after hearing those 7 tracks of “70’s inspired-Heavy-Psychedelic-Blues-Rock” as they call it 😉 Now your turn to press the play button below while reading the review :
How is the sound ?
A lot of bands tend to take the Retro Road these days, but The Heavy Minds have something very particular that will strike you from the first few notes, like that first groovy riff on “Rivers” !
And while you’re at it, here is their official video for this very first track on the album :
Melting fuzzed-out riffs, sometimes bluesier, sometimes heavier, and adding on top of that miraculous psychedelic parts (like in “Drifting Away” a fabulous heavy/bluesy jam…), the whole album will flow easily into your ears as every part seamlessly plugs into the following one…
The vocals will certainly remind you Parker’s ones from Radio Moscow, and I must say this harsh tone with well-executed melodies works wonders with the music 🙂
For a first full-length this trio can be proud of what they achieved, be sure I’ll watch them closely and their vinyl has already rotated a lot of times on my turntable !
Why is this album worth listening ?
- For those who like it heavy, but who also have a strong connection with the 60’s/70’s Rock sound.
- Fuzz, Wah-Wah, bluesy feeling, I love the style of the guitarist !
- Original & groovy overall sound sets the Heavy Minds apart from the other bands in that scene
In what situation you should listen to this album ?
Just rock it out wherever you want, it has enough groove & fuzz to put it very loud at your home, and enough trippy parts to go the smooth way with a big fat joint…
Something particular to note ?
5€ for the digital version, or 15€ + 5€ shipping worldwide, I made my choice and went the analog way, what a better format to listen to this awesome album ?!
The release is courtesy of StoneFree Records, an Austrian-based label I’ll soon mention again on that blog, because they also signed another Austrian band worth checking out, just wait for it guys ! 🙂
