Prepare Yourself to Be Trampled By The Elephant !
How is the sound ?
For those who already know My Sleeping Karma, rest assured, they still have THAT sound. If you randomly heard one track of this new album entitled “Moksha“, you’d know it’s MSK in less than a second. For the others, you have no idea of how lucky you are to discover this band.
This album is a logical progression from Tri and Soma, while adding new elements to it: the keyboard sometimes is in front of the band, and some new instruments appear as guests (like on Colour Haze Album “She Said“, you may hear some horns).
Those additions make the sound more diverse than it was on the previous albums (especially Soma, where at times I couldn’t differentiate the tracks, even if I love that album). As always with them, 5 interludes provide soothing moments after the heaviness of the end of the previous tracks.
This is probably their best album to date, I have it on loop since I got it.
Why is this album worth listening ?
- If you already like MSK, you will love this album
- If you didn’t like the repetitiveness of the previous albums, you should try this one
- They still have this gift of transitioning coherently from quiet and peaceful moments to massive riffs
- This is probably one of the best albums of the year
In what situation you should listen to this album ?
Where you have enough room to headbang for those glorious moments of heaviness that are MSK trademark.
When one of those earworm riffs comes back into your head.
Something particular to note ?
If they tour in your area, please go see them live. It’s always refreshing to see musicians smiling and visibly having a great time while playing.
You can order this wonderful album on Napalm Records Webstore.
