Sailing on your own Mind's Ship...
In 2014 the Ukrainian band Somali Yacht Club dropped a bomb in the Stoner world with their debut album “The Sun“. Acclaimed by both critics and fans, they managed to create a unique Heavy-Psych atmosphere for our minds to drift far far away…
But now it’s 2018, we’re all waiting to see what SYC has to show us for their 2nd album. Well fuzzers, the wait is over : we’re hosting the Full Album Stream of Somali Yacht Club new album “The Sea” !

How is the sound?
Let’s get this straight: The Sea will be hard to surpass for other Heavy-Psych albums in 2018 (between this one and Weepecker latest it’s hard to choose…). Yup, Somali Yacht Club hit so hard with their 2nd effort, my god it’s an amazing piece of music !
You remember how far you went in the galaxy of your own mind with The Sun ? Well The Sea is the same but on steroids.
There is this constant sonic soundscape that you can only embrace and appreciate. Just let go of all your thoughts and immerse yourself into the sound. Heavily profound and cleverly melodic, each song of this album is a trip on itself.
The sound production clearly leveled up too, fuller, richer, I can’t wait to spin it on my turntable 🙂
In the end, I think we’re starting to see a new wave of Heavy-Psych in our scene. Led by the mighty Elder, closely followed by Weedpecker and Somali Yacht Club, these bands are redefining sort of a new genre in it’s own. While each of them approaches it differently, we can feel some similarities in the music : epic psychedelic songs with complex songwriting, clean airy vocals, highly melodic guitar work, a huge heaviness while also being very atmospheric. I don’t know, maybe I’m alone thinking about this, give me your thoughts in the comments fuzzers!
Why is this album worth listening ?
- Because it’s been 4 years we were waiting for a new Somali Yacht Club !
- Deep psychedelicness to nourish your mind
- Songwriting rules. The music just flows so easily.
In what situation you should listen to this album ?
When you need to evade on your own mind’s ship, sailing on an infinite psychedelic sea of awesomeness !
Something particular to note ?
Now I’m just wondering if their 3rd album will be titled “The Sex”. Ok only French people might get this one. **huhu**
