Space is Heavier Than You Think...
How is the sound ?
Gothenburg, Sweden isn’t know for its instrumental space rock scene, but it might change thanks to these five guys of Yuri Gagarin. They bring a heavier side to space rock, without betraying it on what seems like never-ending jams.
The four tracks will take you on this amazing trip, headbanging far away from our galaxy: think Hawkwind but heavier, or Sungrazer, but spacier. The riffs are great, with the lead and rhythm guitars complementing each other very well, and an always present keyboard but it’s never taking over. This album is easily in my top albums of 2014, it stays in your head like few others.
Why is this album worth listening ?
- Heavy psych… IN SPAAAACE!
- A refreshing take on the space rock genre
In what situation you should listen to this album ?
Something particular to note ?
There are 2 releases of this album, the first version that was released on Levande Begravd Records, and the second one was remixed by Linus Andersson (who mastered Commune by Goat) after the band was signed with the legendary german label Sulatron. I prefer the second one, which I find much better sounding.
